Mall branches of Deco's and Ted's exist all over Iloilo. They're fine. But the original stalls inside La Paz Public Market are a completely different experience — louder, cheaper, and better. From the airport, a Grab to La Paz Market is around ₱350 direct. Go on your first morning before heading to your hotel, because the market stalls close by early afternoon.
Iloilo City has ATMs everywhere — SM, BancNet, GCash, Maya all work fine. But the moment you board the pump boat to Guimaras Island (₱30 from Parola Wharf, 15 minutes), you're entering a largely cash-only economy. The ATM in Jordan town runs out of cash regularly on weekends and during mango festival season. Beach resorts in Guimaras are almost entirely cash-only. Withdraw at least ₱3,000–₱5,000 in Iloilo City before boarding the boat. Last boat from Guimaras back to Iloilo is typically around 7pm — don't miss it.
Cebuano (Bisaya) and Hiligaynon (Ilonggo) are mutually unintelligible — they're as different as Tagalog and Kapampangan.
