This is the number-one mistake on this route, and it hits Clark travellers especially hard because you're not passing through Manila where bank ATMs are everywhere. El Nido has only 2–3 ATMs in town, and on Friday afternoons and long-weekend arrivals, they run out of cash by early evening. The Metrobank and BDO ATMs charge ₱200–₱250 per withdrawal. Bring ₱8,000–₱10,000 minimum in cash for a 3-night trip — enough for tours (most operators cash-only), food, transport, and the ₱200 ENTMRPA environmental fee at the tourism office. El Nido has a genuine rainy season from June through October when island-hopping tours are frequently cancelled due to rough seas — sometimes for 2–3 consecutive days. The Genesis or Victory Liner buses from Clark to Cubao take 3–4 hours. Unless you're catching a first morning departure and have planned transit time properly, trying to use NAIA as a fallback from Clark is a gamble that regularly causes missed flights. If CRK is sold out, look instead at pricing via Puerto Princesa (PPS) on Cebu Pacific or PAL, then take the shared van to El Nido — more time, but more reliable.
